compartment light in center console
Hello,
I have a 2016 f-150 super crew lariat. My truck has the lower shifter and console and right in front front of the shifter is a small compartment. When open there seems to be a light on all the time. Is there any way to turn this off without closing the door? Thanks

I was looking at trying to remove the bulb but ended up pushing the light back into the trim. I then removed the square trim piece around it and now the light just dangles in the hole. I tried to remove it but can't because it's hard to get to and I didn't want to break it. Hoping someone knows of a way to get to it easier.

I too used electrical tape. I wanted a little light but didn't like the glare off the rear window when looking in the mirror. I cut a small piece of electrical tape about 1/4" wide. I put this over the center of the light which blocked the bulb reflection, but allows light out on both sides. I did this in October of '15, it is still there.

There is a switch connected to the door to turn it off. If that can be found, and moved or accessed in some way to turn it off, that would be good. It is annoying to have it reflect off the back window, makes it look like someone is following when there's no one there.

Top of the console has to come off and then remove the front "cubby" that has the lid. The light is an LED assembly that can just be unplugged if you don't want it at all.
Not sure if you can get the light back in that way though, I had my whole console out to install the active park/lane assist wiring....
