Default "Cigar Lighter Socket" question.......

At least that's what the manual calls it on page 162. There's no photo so I guess that is what I used to call a cigarette lighter, at the bottom center of the dash, just to the left of the two USB ports.

Anyway, all my previous rides, when I plugged in my radar detector I could just leave it plugged in. When I turned off the car the detector turned off. Not so with my new F-150. It stayed on all the while I was shopping (about 30 minutes).

I thought it would turn off after a couple of minutes or something. Is this normal? Kind of annoying to have to be plugging it in and out on each trip. Am I doing something wrong?

Most domestics use a constant power to the cigarette lighter. I haven't used mine on the new truck yet, but I'd assume it has remained a standard with Ford

Is there an accessory port? My thought is that one will shut off?

I think so. Maybe on the back side of the console. I'll check it out.

It will turn off, at least on the 15's, just takes a few minutes longer than you gave it. If you want it on all the time like me you have to do a mod.

Maybe they changed it after all my bitching l want them on.. Like they used to be.
