Default Check engine light.

I got my first check engine light in 96k miles on my 2020 lariat 5.0. I have the Fixd code reader (awesome) and it said flow rate for my catalytic converter was below recommended rate. Called the dealer and they said ok to drive. Do I really need to get this fixed? Engine light wasn’t on this morning.
Thanks, you always give me excellent advice…

Lack of specific info makes things sort of a guess.
Lack of Cat flow efficiency should be codes P 0420 or 0430 or both.
Their are two engine banks with converters, bank 1 and 2.
If the fault is not blockage, ok to drive without doing any other damage, but legal emission levels are failing.
This why there are Cats.
Good luck.

Thank you very much. I remember yers ago we’d just go to a muffler shop and have the cats removed!

A lot of owners have the old thoughts in mind not having to deal with the new technology and get stunned over the big change when trouble hits.
The vehicles are rolling computer systems.
Emissions checks are being done even when the vehicle is setting still and cold. Fuel tank fume escape is being monitored full time by two systems. Running and at rest.
Can't get rid of CATS now because the Ox Sensors are a different design (5 lead) and part of much improved fuel control and emissions testing.
The rear Sensors used to be just for monitoring Cat Ox output, but now have their own Long Term Table history in memory.. Suprise!
Good luck.
