Chatter from Steering Wheel
Hi everyone. I have an 18 f150, 5.0, 4x4, platinum. The issue i am having is between the ranges of 64-70mph im hearing this slight chattering from the steering wheel. It drives great, there are no rough spots and turns smoothly. Honestly i nearly missed hearing it but i had my music down and started to take notice of it. Consistently at that speed and when i turn slightly at around 45mph i may catch it chattering for half a second every now and again. Sounds a little metallic and is just noticeable enough to be irritating. Has anyone else had this? I'm believing it may be my intermediate steering shaft getting some slight play. Figured i would post and see if anyone has seen it or had some advice to offer.
Can you set your truck to auto 4W Drive? May not have quite the right terms here because my vehicle is only 2W drive. I am wondering IWE (Integrated Wheel Ends). If so and the noise disappears and returns when in 2W drive read the forum posts on IWE.
Maybe this will also bring others to respond.

IWE's are good. I've had an IWE issue before and it never sounded this light. A nick in my vacuum line caused me to only get the rattle when turning with an IWE issue. I'll try that out though. Just for kicks. I'll update later. Also, I've ordered another intermediate steering shaft. It reminds me so much the issue i had on a 11 Lariat i had. I figured i try here and see if anyone else had some insight.
Update: Issue resolved. Found that it was my driver side hub assembly. Went with an advance auto hub as it came with a 3 year warranty. I did change out the intermediate drive shaft and it made no change. Once i changed out the the hub assembly it went away. I have aggressive tires that i thought contributed to a hum but it was also the hub assembly. Cleared both the hum and the chatter. Now i believe the hub would hum at the right frequency/vibrate just enough to cause the issue of the chatter in the steering wheel. Who knows i might have something else going bad, but i'm not going to question the quietness of it for now.
