Default Charging phone error message

My 2016 XLT is equipped with SYNC 3, and I own an iPhone 5c. I am fairly certain that the phone is not compatible with the app link feature on my truck which is fine. However, when I plug my phone in to charge, I get a message that pops up constantly on the screen that states "The inserted USB device is not responding". The phone itself is charging, I guess this message is just referring to other features. It is annoying as hell. Any idea on how to stop the error message from constantly flashing on the screen?

Thanks

Is it a genuine Apple charger/cord? If it's not it's not uncommon to see errors like this.

You're right, I was using an aftermarket cable. I tried the genuine Apple one this morning and it worked perfectly. I was even able to use Spotify on the Sync 3 screen which was a surprise to me. Thanks a lot!

Many people don't realize that iPhone cables are more than just straight wire from connector to connector. The really cheap aftermarket cables are about 50/50 if they work.

Amazon and eBay do have inexpensive replacements that work but you have to mak sure the listing shows 100% compatible not just "works with iPhone"
