Default Changing a order on a 2016

Put in a order for a 2016 almost 4 weeks ago. I had the 3.31 axle and the following day I talked to the dealer about changing it to the 3.73. They said they will take care of it. Well after 4 weeks of riding my bike to work I just found out that the change was never made. Build date is still over a week out but they say its to late and cant do anything. Is this true? No window sticker, next to nothing on ETIS and they still cant change the axle? If anyone has any experience or luck in changing a order please let me know.

Once the order is that close to build, it's probably, Locked, which makes no changes possible. You will have to accept as is, reorder or find something on the lot.

I'm guessing nobody at the dealership can now remember saying they'd take care of it. Yes? In that case you're stuck with it. Ever heard the old saying "Get it in writing" ?

Once the vehicle is assigned a VIN you can't change the order.

Two things
1st. You are not contractually obligated to buy that truck. You might loose your down payment though. Your dealership should do everything in its power to get you what you want even if you changed your mind. Just my opinion.
2nd. Depending on what you ordered it might be a late availability regardless. For example the higher trim level (non XL) 3.5 ecoboost with 3.73 has to have the HD payload pkg. in fact any 3.73 has the HD payload but only the 3.5eb is a late build. My advice would be make sure it has the 36 g/136L fuel tank as well. Good luck.

Always get everything in writing, including a change.

He should get his down payment back. That truck is not yours. Your down payment is refundable, it's just something that helps you prove to the dealer you want the truck.

Even if you had a verbal conversation, tell the dealer you are not getting what you asked for. If they want your business, they'll correct it. If they give you a hard time, get your deposit back, go somewhere else.

IF they fight you on the deposit, call your bank/credit card.

You should be fine though, don't worry about deposits not getting returned.
