Default Changing Front Diff Fluid

Has anyone dchanged front diff fluid yet on their '16-up F150 yet? Living up here in Alaska, had the truck in 4WD all winter and since it's more wear than a truck in the lower 48 would experience, would like to know if anyone has a quick cheat guide to doing it.

I have and the procedure is a PITA - not much better than removing the cover and draining the fluid.

I used a suction gun and inserted the hose through the fluid level check plug.

PS: you are aware there was an SSM on an optional fluid for extreme cold climates to prevent pinion bearing failure?

I didn't actually...I live in Anchorage so it might not be an issue so much here (climate very similar to New England) as it would be in like Fairbanks and north... I'll have to check into that

It doesn't sound like you're in a severe arctic climate nor have you experienced a pinion bearing failure. Nonetheless here is the SSM - also applies to 2016 F150s:

SSM 45087 - 2009-2015 F150 4x4 Front Pinion Bearing Damage

If pinion bearing damage is noted during the repair of the Front Axle on 2009 -2015 F150 4x4 units operated in severe cold climates. Use Motorcraft XY-75W85-QL Synthetic Hypoid Gear Lubricant upon reassembly and fluid fill. The lube will offer better pinion bearing lubrication in severe arctic conditions. Only a small number of units operated in the most severe climates will benefit from the using the synthetic lube. Do not replace the lube unless you have identified a concern with the pinion bearing

Is just thinking being a Jeep guy that the diff fluid should be changed about once a year... Am I wrong and Ford's going with "permanent" fluids like BMW?
