Center Console Shift lights

2018 job 2 and newer do not have this light. My Lariat 502A was built in March 2018. The plug is there, by the gear shift. The Ford part that contains the light is only available with the entire console assembly.
Some have mentioned getting this this from a junkyard.
I used a small section of rob led strip that I had. I tied the blue and green together. It lights up well. It is darker than the factory aqua colour, that doesn’t matter to me.

Are you the guy who said yours light up but there's no actual light under the shifter? That's the only person to have claimed his (bought) new 2018 F-150 lights up... unless you bought it used, and the previous owner glued the LED strip in place. All other new 2018 owners DO NOT have a light, no matter the build date or trim. My late build Platinum doesn't have one either.
OP, like somebody already replied, there's no way to just add the plastic housing to mount the LED strip like factory; you'd have to buy the entire console assembly, which no way I'd do. I already bought the light strip, but will probably not install it. Some have glued it, but it probably lights up all the console gaps underneath, and the actual PRNDS letters dimmer. I'd have to hear a very detailed testimonial to attempt it, so guess I spent 20 bucks for nothing. Ha ha. Finally, also as mentioned, the LED only lights up the letters, but DO NOT indicate gear chosen (only on the cluster). Hope this helps.

elptxjc,
Do not be so quick to call out oldguy1946!
I took delivery of my new 2018 Lariat on January 17th, 2018. It has the gear shift lights in the console, they do not change when you shift gears, they just light up, just like the 2017's.
So early 2018's still had this feature, but have no idea what date Ford dropped this feature?

"Are you the guy who said yours light up but there's no actual light under the shifter? " NO I'm not that guy. LOL. That would be a stupid thing to say!!!!
Your statement is NOT true about other "2018 owners DO NOT have a light no matter the build date" I Bought it new and it lights up no matter what you think you know and obviously has a bulb. The early build date 2018 lariats had the light and they then deleted it on later builds.. Don't know about the XLT. Mine is an Aug 2017 build and also has the same style tow mirrors as the 2017 F150. They changed to the super duty style tow mirrors for later builds.
