Default Center console replacement

So with my 2015 SCREW I noticed that the center console sections near the dash were separating, almost like internal clips were broken. I took it in to the dealer and they informed me that Ford Corp. says the entire console from rear vents to dash needs to be replaced!

Now since the nav and keyfob programming is all part of the console will I have issues after the replacement? Or will I just plug in the SD card and the keys work as normal?

Thanks for the help!

I would think they will just be replacing the plastic trim. Everything else should remain intact. (If I understood you correctly) Even if the SD card slot is replaced with everything else, it is just a slot. Just make sure you remove any SD cards and whatnot before you take it in.

That is what I originally thought, however the service and parts department says the whole thing, from floor up is being replaced.

I thought they would just re skin the exterior of the console.

The console is probably a "black box" for the mechanics. It's just plug & play. All that stuff in the console (like nav and keyfob programming) is probably just plugged into the wiring harness where the real brains are. The stuff in the console is just wire.

That ^^^^

Everything runs through certain control units/modules that are mostly all behind/under the dash.
