Default CD to USB thumb drive

I just ordered a new truck. I have a ton of CDs. I would like to get a head start on this before my vehicle arrives.

How do I move songs on a CD to a thumb drive and how do I make sure they're in the correct format? Do I need some sort of special software?

Do I have to put them in "folders" or can just transfer one CD after another? When I go to play them, will the songs/albums be mixed or will they differentiate? How is the best way to listen between different albums/songs/genres etc...? Can I create "playlists"?

Thanks,

A simple way to rip cds is to just use windows media player. WMP will allow you to choose the file format you want to use to rip the cds. WMA format is my recommendation as its a lossless format that isn't huge like FLAC or AIFF. You then use windows media player to allow you to copy the files and paste them to the USB drive you want to use.

A benefit of using WMP is that My ford touch is a Windows software platform so it should fully recognize titles, tracks, play lists, etc.

You don't need to create Playlists unless you want to. MFT will allow you to browse by artist, album, etc.

Good luck, you can't screw up (your cds will not be erased). Worst case is you just lose some time when you have to try again, or experiment with something new.

I had a lot of music full CDs on iTunes on my windows 7 pc
About 6 thousand songs.
I just transferred a copy of my whole library from iTunes over onto a usb stick 64 gig one. I still have at least another 25 to 30 pct space on the stick.
I will add some more in iTunes I guess eventually. And then delete the stick and reload the whole library back on to it again.
It finds all my artists. By name of group, song title. Or just play all from A to Z
All titles if in a. Will play all songs that start with a. Various artists.
Or you can also ask by gender. Rock, dance, county. Jazz. Ect
Works well no issues for me. Also has most of the album art onto the screen too when you press the entertainment tab area on bottom of screen

Sometimes it's not sure of what you asked and gives you 4 options or so on the screen. Then need to confirm line 1 or 3 ect. Or none of those if it does not have the proper one

By gender? So if I only want to listen to male artists it will do that? WOW. Ok, I'm being a smart ***. You meant genre.

I don't care if album art is there or not. I just want the songs/albums.

I also have several hundred songs on my IPOD. How did you transfer those?

I would absolutely love to have my whole music collection on one USB thumb drive that would play in my new truck.
