Default CarPlay/Sync question!

Oh my wife’s VW if my phone is plugged in via car play, it will allow me to hit the voice activation button, which activates Siri, and I can say “play X” and Siri will find it and play it. In my truck it says “I can’t do that while you’re driving.” I assume it’s a ford limitation, or am I missing something?

phone and sync are both up to date.

2016 sync 3 version 3 IPhone 8 Plus. I just went out to the truck. While plugged in I can hit the voice button on the steering wheel and say play “random song” and I will take a few seconds but it will locate the song and Siri say “playing “random song” I also just tried saying “hey Siri, play “random song” without hitting the voice button and that works also

edit: truck was running in park, I can’t drive it and try at the moment....

Mine works fine. Did you go through the Siri/carplay set up on your phone. If you already did I would delete the truck from the phone under CarPlay settings on the phone and go through the set up again. Also make sure you don't have "Do not disturb while driving" turned on the phone. I am going to assume you don't since it works on your wife's VW (CarPlay might override that anyways I never tried).

Works fine on mine when plugged in for CarPlay. “Hey Siri” even works through Sync 3 when connected only through Bluetooth.

Going to try this today. I do have several cars in that CarPlay menu, so seems to be worth a shot. Good call, thanks!
