CarPlay / SYNC 3 Navigation
I own a 2.7L EcoBoost, 2018 F-150 Lariat, SuperCrew, FX4, which is running SYNC 3 and up to date. I've noticed that when my iPhone's plugged in and I'm using CarPlay, I'm not able to use the native navigation portion of SYNC 3. With decent LTE reception, this isn't a huge deal, but I like the simplicity of just taping "Directions" on the screen and using the SYNC navigation.
Where the problem lies is when I have no cell signal, but my iPhone's still plugged in. Without reception, none of the navigation apps in CarPlay work, but the SYNC navigation does, which forces me to have to unplug my iPhone to utilize navigation, then plug it back in to use CarPlay when back in cell reception.
Additionally, I enjoy using the "Home" screen where I can see the small navigation window, along with my SiriusXM channels, etc. While using CarPlay, the navigation portion is unavailable because it doesn't appear to be compatible with CarPlay.
Is there a way to use the SYNC navigation while using CarPlay? And yes, another pissed off F-150 owner with frozen doors that wouldn't shut this winter until the third attempt by the dealer to fix it. So far, so good as of late January here in upstate New York.

Nope Car Play or Android Auto takes over the Sync App.
You can plug your phone in and turn off Car Play on the Sync under settings and use the native Sync apps then turn it back on when you want it.
