Default Can an F150 4x4 be lowered a few inches

I am loooking at buying a new F150 SCrew 4x4. I have been comparing it to the Silverado which sits about 2" lower. My wife has Rheumatoid Arthritis and is having a hard time getting into the f150 even with the step. With the Silverado she can just slide right in which brings me to my question, can the front end be lowered 2", I know the rear can be but has anyone done the front and is there any clearance or warranty issues. I tow a 6500lb travel trailer if that makes any difference.

Ground Force makes a 1.5/2.5 for the 4x4 and it's the brand dealerships back home tend to use. 2.5 is about the most you can do without a flip kit at the moment and a flip kit will make towing impossible without modifications.

Another option is power running boards either from Ford or aftermarket. They are much lower in the down position than normal running boards or steps

My wife also suffers from arthritis and I just keep a small step stool in the bed for her.

I second the power running boards. They are so much more useful then the fixed ones.

Okay I'll ask, but why would you spend the extra money for a 4 wheel drive and then lower the truck? Why not spend a few thousand less and then lower the 2 wheel drive?

I saw another thread on here where they removed the 1.25" block from the rear axle. This will lower the rear a little, but i don't know about the front.

Lumpythetexan,
The reason I want the 4x4 is snowy and icy roads as well as occassionally while towing up steep and/or slick driveways and access roads. Height doesn't equal traction but four wheel drive does.

I hadn't thought about the power running boards, I will have to look at those and USN 4290 thanks for letting me know about Ground Force, I'll have to look at that as well. All I am looking for is about two inches which would bring it down to my current 2002 4x4 Silverado which is about the same height as the current ones.

I also have been looking into this.....I read a thread the other day that was comparing the height of a 2x4 and 4x4 f150 the 2wd sat I wanna say 1.5 or 1.75" lower.....so here's my option....can you replace the 4x4 strut/spring assembly with a 2wd strut/spring to lower the front? I cant tell you from experience but I've heard lowering kits don't ride that well, although this is 2016 so maybe things have improved over the the years
