Default Camper Shell Wiring

Going to have a new camper shell installed on a 2018 F150 supercrew 5.7" bed. The installer says they will be splicing into the driver's side tail light for the wiring. Question: Is there any accessory harness or plug that fits the original and has wire leads off of that to avoid cutting the original harness wires? Like a few mods as possible to a brand new truck.

Nope, just went through this on my truck. Splicing into the tail light may throw codes. Had that issue on my truck. Ford told the dealer where to do the splice to avoid the code throwing.

If it's a Leer or ARE dealer doing the install, they have specific vehicle wiring instructions supplied to them. They usually supply a pre-made cable which attaches with proper splicing hardware to specific points.
I just had an ARE tonneau (with auto/lock and led lighting) installed. The dealer used the rear taillight area as a conduit to drop the wiring harness underneath the truck and hooked up to points in the front.
My point is that if the installer is using the top's manufacturer instructions, it's not a sloppy cut/splice.

Ford moved the tap for the cap 3rd brake to the inside from under the hood. When my Lakeland was installed though they tapped ther left wiring at the tail light. Haven't had any issues yet.

This is Ranch, would expect them to provide good info to dealers. Anyone let me know otherwise. The dealer offers Leer as well and has been in business for quite some time so expecting things to go ok. This dealer has no ratings on any of the business review websites except one superbad review on Angie's from many years ago, nothing since. I figure anyone can have one bad apple in the shop occasionally. Another dealer had ARE camper shells but the ones on exhibit had really poor bending around the window corners with bulges and screws in off center really bad. The Leer and Ranch looked like the workmanship was much better to me.
