Default Camper Shell Questions

I'm looking at a truck that comes with a camper shell. I like the idea of a camper shell, but this is not exactly the one that I think I would pick (it's a high ceiling, for one).

Basically I'm wondering what removal is like for camper shells on these trucks? It looks like some metal brackets with large bolts are holding it in place. If the camper shell is taken off, is there more permanent installation hardware that will be left in place, or will everything come off cleanly?

Mine is a weather pack connection for the wiring and four clamps. Then off it comes.

The previous owner of my truck had a cap that he took off and put on his new truck. Either during install or removal of his cap they marred up the plastic caps that cover the lip on the top of the bed and the tail gate, but other than that you would have never known there was a shell on the truck. It really didn't bother me because I knew I would be getting a camper myself, also I think you can get those parts from tasca for less than $100.

double check the wiring. lots of installers hardwire without a connection, so you may have to pull the tail light where it runs into to permanently remove the wire taps. other than that, simply unzip the clamps and get a buddy to help lift it off - the "turtle shell" method works well to break the weatherseal free.

That's my truck. I can't speak for how others are installed.
