Remember, the date of your appointment is usually not the date the vehicle actually gets worked on. It`s just the day it gets into the shop. I have taken my car in & they signed it in & drove it to the back lot & it sat there until they got to it. The old days when you brought the vehicle to the dealer & they pulled it into a bay & started work on it that day are gone, except for simple things, tires/oil change/batteries. That kind of thing.
Just picked up the truck. Left the dealership and went over a mile before I hit a red light. Sitting at the light with my foot on the brake, I noticed that there was a minor, but definitely noticeable vibration of the whole body. This vibration was definitely, absolutely, positively not there when I took it in. Called and left a message for the service manager. Can't wait to hear what he's going to say now!
Could someone in-the-know, please explain this receipt? I don't see any reference to cam phasers, but they replaced 4 VCT units. Is that the same thing?
The first two line items in the parts list are the vct phasers. The idle vibration may just be from the computer being reset and needing to relearn idle trims. Give it a couple days and it will smooth out if that is the case.

You are correct sir! Everything was back to normal the next day.
The check engine light on my 2020 F150 Limited with the 3.5L EcoBoost and 35,000 miles came on last week. Checking the Ford app, it said the control system is detecting intermittent signals from one of the engine timing sensors which may prevent the engine from starting. Sounded pretty serious, so I took it to the local Ford dealer and on the way there, noticed that the acceleration was pretty sluggish. Once they finally got to look at it, they found a TSB, said it may be the cam phasers but need to check further. Never having heard that term before, I did a lot of research and just got that sinking feeling in my gut. Having been a Ford guy most of my life, I find it hard to believe that Ford had this issue for years and evidently finally got it fixed starting with the 2021 models.
Dealer confirmed yesterday morning it is the cam phasers and will be covered under warranty. Said they will need the truck for at least a week. Got a few questions for you guys that have already been through this.
A week? Seriously? In my searches, it appears that this is around 9 hours labor.
For those of you who have had this repair done by a dealer, how long did it take for you?
Any idea if the cam phasers they will be using are the same as the old ones?
What are the odds that this will happen again?
Since this issue only affected the 2015 -2020 F150s, anyone know what changed on the 2021 motors? Did they drop the cam phasers a try a different approach?
Late seeing this. Please watch the following video to answer your question. And the good news is your parts list indicates you have the new phasers.
My 2019 is in the shop right now for this very issue. I took it in late 07/19/23 so they could check it after it sat overnight. I use CarShield as my warranty company and it took until 10am 07/25/23 to get the approval. The holdup was the dealer also found an axel seal leak and fought to get it covered.
My dealer has all available parts in stock, so the truck will be don 07/27/23 by COB. My total cost will be $200, my $100 deductible for each repair.
I think this is pretty good for the times with supply chain issues and all that junk.
Question though. Anyone have a ballpark # for the VCT replacement job if my warranty didn't cover it?

I'd wondered as well as others what they changed and if I had the upgraded ones used on my repair.
