Optimum gloss coat is real easy to apply for your first time, Wolfgang as previously mentioned, Gyeon MOHS and most recently Kamakazee Miyabi and a whole slew launched at Sema this year.

They help the durability and look great IMHO, but can still scratch and swirl if you don’t wash property (google 2 bucket car wash) and often you need to use compatible wash products. CQuartz recommend their car wash soap, pH neutral “reset”. It’s a great soap...

You can reach out to Cory at CarPro-USA, I’m sure he will give you good advice... www.carpro-us.com

Trust me I DO NOT want to pay that price and I have always done my own waxing and cleaning of my cars, no-one else touches them--I love clean cars!! But thats the main thing is the paint correction before you put ANY type pf this coating on, getting a brand new 2018 truck you would hope all you need to do is clay bar and wash it real well, then put your Coating on--Time to decide on WHAT brand coating!!

I have been reading about the Gyeon MOHS and Kamakazee Miyabi over on the Autopia forms, seems like some killer stuff, the Kamakazee is pricey stuff too

I put C Quartz UK on my truck when it was new in Aug. Prep is a bit of a pain, decontaminate the paint, polish to removed any other contaminants, 2 process wipe down with a "eraser" product then apply the coating which is not difficult but you do have to be careful. The end product is beautiful and so far has held up very well. The truck is easy to wash, even bugs come off with little effort and I use a leaf blower to dry the truck. I figure I will need to reapply every year or so but that is much better than using a sealant or wax...

I decontaminated my paint using iron-x, then clay mitt. Polished with CarPro Essence, then applied 1 coat of Cquartz UK, 1 coat of Cquartz classic. Best thing I ever did. Truck stays way cleaner hardly gets extremely dirty, breeze to wash and looks freshly waxed everytime i wash it.

I recently polished my windshield with Ceriglass, and coated with Flyby, coated rear windshield and side windows with Cquartz UK. Excellent water repellancy and cleanliness

I was thinking about getting the IronX as well and spraying all over after the claying. Did you use the IronX right after your purchase and how much Iron was really on the paint when you sprayed it on?

Im gonna go with the KAMIKAZE MIYABI COAT for my Coating.

Also was gonna try the Aquapel Glass Treatment on the glass!

I waited a 1 year after i purchased my truck to iron-x, clay and coat. First year i just washed and applied JetSeal , i was good basic protection. There was a moderate amount of iron especially around lower body panels near the wheels.

As maintenence for my coating, this Spring i will lightly iron-x and clay, and apply CarPro Reload silica sealant as a topper for my coating to refresh the gloss and protection. I have parked near paint facility few months and can feel slight overspray mainly on hood.

I did want to do this with CH 9 this year, but after seeing all the chips from rock salt and the clear coming off the paint, decided not to. Will take days to get the paint corrected.

I did my 2017 KR F150 about a month ago.

Just because the truck is _new_ doesn't mean you should not prep the paint... Prepping the F150 took me the good part of 8 hours.
  • Wash
  • Clay
  • Wash again
  • Polish (in my case, the F150 had little to no spots that needed much work, 1-2 bird poop spots).
  • Wash again
  • Dry (took my backpack blower and blew it dry)
  • Carpro Eraser
  • Applied CQuarts UK (make sure to apply even across the surface)
  • Apply Carpro Reload

The water beads so well, when breaking hard it flies onto the windshield. Pretty happy with the results thus far. I play to hit it with Reload in 6 months..

Matt from Obsessed Garage just posted his 2018 Raptor coating process...he was not happy with all the paint issues on this vehicle vs the near perfect Magnetic paint on his GT350...

He has never been a coatings fan, his go to has been Powerlock topped with Collinite 845 wax.

Episode 1 of 18 link below. Episode 18 is his summary and conclusions...
