A/C Performance
I don’t believe that as a consumer you’re able to buy R1234yf. It takes separate equipment and is not compatible with R134a.
In the US, there are no EPA-mandated sales restrictions or license requirements for small cylinders of two pounds or less. There may be local restrictions. I can walk into any local Oreilly's and purchase 12 oz cans if I needed them. You can also order them off Amazon. They are very expensive, though.
Absolutely.

I monitored the temp coming out of my vents yesterday. Mid 80's, cloudy. With fresh air on the temp coming out of the vents never went below 50F. At stoplights it would rise a few degrees. Will continue to monitor.

One area that leaks are the schrader valves service ports under the high and low black caps. Slowly un screw and listen for a leak/release as you unscrew, you may also feel them to have pressure under them. You may also see some green oil, leak die indicator. If yes get them replaced.

It was 90 on the way home from work yesterday. I started on Recirc but kept the A/C on fresh after the system was cooling. The air out of the vents did not go below 55F during . At stoplights the temp would rise to 60-65. The volume of air was good.
Is there a standard of the temp coming out of the vents?

However, a good rule of thumb is that a temperature drop through the evaporator of 30-40F is typical. Depending on the speed of the air moving through the core, it can be more or less. Once the interior of the vehicle has cooled down, using recirculate usually allows lower vent temps.
