Default Buzzing sound from diff when turning left

Hi,

Purchased a 2018 Platinum with 54k miles, and even on the test drive noticed that a slight steering input to the left results in a deep buzzing noise coming from differential. Basically sounds like you have mud tires when turning slightly left then when you straighten up it goes away. Doesn’t make the noise turning to right. Have new tires on it and did it with original tires set and new. does it in 4 wheel or 2 wheel drive. Do I need the differential rebuilt or if it a fluid issue?

any input helpful

Possible the right wheel bearing. Double check the 4wd iwe, drive around in 4A for a bit.

Yah I agree that sounds like a wheel bearing. Had same symptoms before and that’s what it was.

Both are possibilities. Everyone has their own way of describing sounds, but I think in my mind, something "buzzing" would sorta indicate something electrical. Maybe check out your EPAS? See if it "duzz the buzz" when not moving?

yeah it’s more of a deep hum, sounds like aggressive mud tires at freeway speeds.

anything else to look for or any other symptoms that would indicate that it’s a wheel bearing?

I'm going for wheel bearing. Jack up a corner, I'd start with the right one, and spin wheel slowly feeling for any roughness or sound. Sometimes, you can grab it at say, 3 and 9 o'clock, and try wiggling it, should not get movement from a good bearing. The wiggle test is not always reliable, the bearing has to be pretty bad.
The only other way is to pull that hub and see if you see anything.
