Bump steer or tramlining
I’m going crazy, maybe someone can help so I have a 2020 Ford F-150 4x4
its lifted 8inches I have 24x14s on 37s.
Truck feels like it’s pulling to the left or right on the freeway only not normal streets. When hitting a bump truck pulls to one direction at times. But before it pulls right after going over the bump you can here like the tired rubbing on something if that makes sense. I haven’t figured it out and has only happened ever since I lifted the vehicle I have changed axle shafts thinking that was the issue but no. Not sure how I can fix this issue. Never had an issue with a lifted truck this would be the first. It doesn’t going over or at 60mph sometimes less not sure what it is. I’ve takin to the shop various times replaced ball joints had it re aligned but still the same issue. Can anyone lead me to the right direction to fix this? Not sure if this is bump steer or tramlining

If you want to have 4’s & 7’s on 14 wide that handles properly you’re gonna have to buy a proper 8” plus lift kit. FTS, Bullitproof, etc.
I would say it is likely bumpsteer. When you lift or lower OE suspension it changes the geometry of the suspension. My experience is with lowering the suspension on my Cobra Mustang and I had to go to extended lower ball joints and a bumpsteer kit for the track rod ends to make the car handle. There are several websites that discuss bumpsteer. Most of these deal with lowered suspensions, but lifting can cause issues as well.
You need to look at what happens to your toe-in when the suspension travels up and down. The trick is to keep the track rod of the rack and pinion parallel to the LCA (lower control arm). If the track rod pivot length is the same as the LCA pivot length, then a parallelogram is maintained and toe-in does not vary much with suspension travel. If the track rod is not parallel to the LCA, or the pivot lengths are different, the result is the parallelogram is not maintained and toe-in varies with suspension travel.

i wanted a true 8 inch lift but no one had them in stock. So basically what the shop did was add spacers to achieve a 8inch lift? Not sure what else to do? I took the truck to the shop to get it aligned and a wheel hub replaced for it back and truck road way worst then it did before couldn’t go pass 40mph bc it would sway left or right on the freeway. Took it back to get it align correctly and it drove a little better. But it will still pull to the left or right when hitting bumps and like before something would grind after hitting bump and then pull. Not sure what I should have them check.
If you’re hearing rubbing or grinding that’s an entirely different issue that you need to sort out, make sure you have enough clearance..
Without changing your kit there’s probably not much you could do if everything is installed correctly and no fitment issues. Smaller wheel/tire to allow dropping down to 6” up front would help, that or a new kit.
Classic over leveled bump steer to me is hitting the bump, suspension rebounds which unloads the front wheels, steering goes light and wheels try to rip all over the place while you try to keep everything straight until suspension settles again and normal steering and control is restored.

#1- That 14"wide tire grabs every rut and imperfection in the road. My buddy had 35x15's and had the same issue until he dropped ot 35x12's. A very good shop combined with good components can eliminate some of this however, see #2......
#2- The make-shift lift kit. Sorry to say but they cobbled it to get you the height you wanted. No one had an 8" in stock? Then you should have waited IMHO. A proper 8" lift would probably eliminate most of the issues minus standard alignment work.
My F350 w/ 6" all spring lift tracked true, I could let go of the wheel and it ran straight even with Procomp Xt's and NO steering stablizer. Eventually the superlift springs broke and I swapped to a 2" shackle and 4" mini spring pack. It handled like cr@p. Lesson learned for me. Fwiw, I had steering issues w/ another F350 and I replace every ball joint, steering component etc.. to include a new Redhead gear box and that 05 tracked straight with no bump steer and I removed the steering stabilizer.
Sorry to sound like a negative Nancy but I suspect you'll be dealing with this until you address one or likely both of the items above, at least #2.
Good luck
