I did not install myself, I ordered it along with my topper . When my topper came in it had a chip in the paint and had to be sent back . When it finally came in they gave me the deflector and installed it for free. I think it uses holes the same screws that hold on the weather strip underneath the front edge of the hood. It is solid and no wind noise , I'm happy with it .

Has anyone colour matched their aeroskin hood guard? I've been thinking about going this route to protect the leading edge of the hood from stone chips. Figure it would be easier to repair than the hood...

I did read somewhere on this forum that this has been done. Maybe under the mods thread. Some have only coloured the inner and not the outer leading side. That makes more sense to me.

I will go with an adhesive style/type at some point.

I like the clear one from Stampede.

We put a chrome Stampede on my wife's 2010 Tri coat white.

We've noticed NO wind noise out of it.

Question: How hard is it to keep hood surface clean behind the shield??

I've had both the stampede on my 2012 and the OEM Ford Aeroskin on my 2016. Didn't notice much bug deflection with either.

I had thought about that, but with the AVS stick on bug deflector, painting the inside wouldn't makes sense as you'd see the adhesive. On the clear screw on type, that is definitely the way to go thou...
