Default Brake switch out of range

At about 11k on my 2017 xlt I was driving down the highway using the cruise, and as traffic slowed down I tapped the brake to turn off the cruise and slow down. Now on any other vehicle I have ever owned, the minute I tap the brake even lightly the cruise would go off. Not so with his truck.

The first time this happen, the wrench light came on shortly after having to step down on the brake hard enough to make the nose of the truck dive a bit, and I was about a mile from work so I parked the truck in the lot, and ran into to work. At lunch I went out, started the truck and all appeared to be fine, but never thought to try and put the truck into gear, (for anyone who might experience such a issue, after shutting the truck off the wrench light does not re-appear after it is started again, so hard to tell if it will leave you stranded until you try to shift into gear.)

Later that night when leaving work, again the truck started fine, but would not shift out of park. I called my dealer that I bought the truck from, and was told not to bring it there, and to find a different dealer they were to busy.(I escalated that call to the owner and the service writer who I spoke with was fired.) Anyways I used the Ford roadside assistance and they showed up 3 hours later and dragged it to the closet dealer that was willing to look at it, and found the that the "brake switch was out of range" and made the adjustment.

This morning same thing is happening, used cruise and had to jump on the brakes to get the cruise to go off, (I know I could turn it off by using the controls on the steering wheel, but when doing 70 on the highway and you get cut off, you hit the brakes and the truck just keeps going , a normal first reaction is to step on the brakes harder to get the cruise to shut off and not pile into anyone.) A couple of miles later and sure enough the wrench light has come on.

The truck is going in for the seat belt recall and to re-address this issue on Tuesday. As for right now the truck is shifting into gear and the brake lights are working, just something I am going to have to watch very carefully until Tuesday.

Hope this helps anyone else who might be experiencing something similar, and I will update this with the dealerships fix. I will not settle for the brake switch was out of range B.S. again, as its not resolving the problem, and is a safety issue that could leave me with no working tail lights or stranded and unable to shift out of park again.
