Default Brake Options

It’s time for some brake work on my 2019 Platinum and it feels like it’s going to need rotors and pads. Any recommendations beyond oem? I don’t have any complaints about stock brake performance.

Amazon Amazon
- 20% off too. I am looking at this for my 2018 as the brakes are starting to squeak. If your brakes are not shaking when applied, you could just get pads. You need to inspect the rotors though to determine that.

The pedal has a bit of a pulse in it, just a hint but it’s there. Are the powerstop rotors and pads worth it?

Several commercial places use them now including Meineke. I just installed them on our 2018 Cherokee and so far I am very pleased with them. Only been on like a month though.

If you are fine with the minor pulsation, just install the pads. ~$100 for front/rear pads. When you bed the new pads it may remove that minor pulsation as well.

I've used the PowerStop brake kits on other vehicles and never have I had a problem with them. Whenever the brakes start to give me a problem on my current F150 that's what I'll be replacing them with. Z36 kit (drilled and slotted)

I have not had good luck in the past with drilled and slotted rotors. On previous vehicles the drilled holes developed cracks.

On my F150 I had StopTech slotted rotors installed that ended up developing a healthy vibration. The performance of the StopTech pads and rotors were not much better than stock.

I recently just swapped to Motorcraft blank rotors and R1Concepts pads. I am very happy with the performance now. Plenty of stopping power, but the pads throw some dust for sure. I would still highly recommend my current setup.

OEM rotors and Motorcraft SuperDuty pads are a great choice IMO.

What part numbers for the "super duty" pads?

My suggestion is to stick with OE, there is absolutely no issues with going that route.
The only minor annoyance is brake dust, but i'd take brake dust problem over chewed up rotors in the next 15-20K miles.
