Brake Makes “Clicking” Noise In Park

Tonight I noticed that while pressing the brake in park there’s a “clicking” noise that comes from the shifter.

If I put the vehicle in neutral and press the brake there’s no clicking. Does anyone know why a clicking noise is made while pressing the brakes in park or if it’s normal?

Normal its the shift lock.

Exactly. When it's in park, and you press the brake, it activates a solenoid to allow you to take it out of park. No need to activate it when in neutral.
