Default Brake Controller not working- 2017

I have a 2017 F150 KR SCREW, I noticed that when i have a trailer connected and i activate the controller manually, I get a "Trailer Disconnected" alert. This is a issue with 2 different trailers yet all lights work on the trailers. I have a 2017 Lariat SCREW at work that doesn't do this with the same trailers. I checked for fuses. Anyone have a idea what could be the culprit?

Not sure if you are the only owner of the vehicle, but check the trailer module under the dash for a disconnected plug. This was one way to disable auto start/stop.

Yes, I am the original owner of the truck. The brake controller has previously worked. All of the fuses check out. I was wondering if anyone had issues with the module.

The trailer brake controller itself is notorious for causing a wide variety of "trailer disconnected" and related issues. I would start by replacing it as it is very simple and no more than $120 for the part. If that doesn't fix your issue you will likely need to try and use FORScan or take it somewhere with IDS to start determining why the "Disconnect" status comes up.

When you are setting up the trailer are you using electric brakes or electric over hydraulic? My trailer has electric but when I chose electric, I got this message and my brakes would not stop. I changed it to electric over hydraulic and the message stopped and the brakes worked.

I have two trailer profiles for two different trailers with the same electric style brakes and both had to be set to the hydraulic setting for them to work
