Default Brake controller?

Can you guys steer me in the right direction?
Where is the cheapest place to buy on OEM brake controller for a 2018 F-150. STX 4x4, 2.7 liter with a locker rear end? It already has both the 4 flat and the 7 pin connectors.
Should I just have a dealer configure, should I have my independent mechanic do it or should I get Forscan and do it myself? And if I do it myself, what is needed besides the software?
Thanks

Don’t look for the cheapest one as you’ll only end up with knock offs and wasting your time with issues.

Buy a new one through fairway ford and know you’re getting oem. Install yourself and program with forscan or have the dealer program with their ids software.

For forscan all you need is the software and the dongle to plug your computer into your truck.

Yes, I realize the $40.00 ones are the Chinese crap. I'm looking for the actual OEM brake controller.
Any idea how much the dongle is? I see one on Amazon for less than $20.00.

Do yourself a favor and buy a quality cord. Look at OBDLink EX.

Even with the cost of the EX, you’re saving money from having the dealer program it. You also get to use all of the FORScan functionality without worry of your data connection crapping out and potentially bricking a module.

All the information you need for FORScan is in this thread, the 1st post. Highly recommend one of the listed ODBII Reader/Dongle. By the way, if you download the spreadsheet as listed in the attached link, it will have the necessary FORScan changes to enable the brake controller. And, just know FORScan is addictive.... you'll likely find other things you want to change on your truck. (buying a dongle will be less than having the dealer program your truck anyway)

Have fun and good luck with the changes.

Buy the actual oem brake controller via fairway ford as I stated.
