Default Box Steps - Amp or Ford?

Hey guys - looking to get some box steps for my new rig. I have used the amp box steps before (Bedstep2) on my 2015 GMC Sierra and I liked them. They were very good quality and solid. I also liked that they just flipped down and up without the button that is on the Ford steps.

That said, I traditionally like the Ford accessories and there is something about having the OEM parts on the truck. Any thoughts here? Price is about 25-35 a piece higher for the Ford branded.

I was just on their website and it looks like they only make the steps for a 5.5' bed. my 2018 is the 6.5' bed.

Yep - It's a mistake on their site. I called and talked to them. These will work with the 5.5 and 6.5 but not the 8 ft. Mine is a 6.5 also.

I have no experience with AMP side box steps. I have the power step and love it. I have had the Ford side box steps and they were a great feature. Easy to use and tough.

Thanks .ironically I've had both the power steps and boxsteps (bedstep 2) on my Gmc .They alwere awesome . I don't have much experience with the Ford boxsteps but I think I'm going with the Amps for both price and looks. The amps are thin and inconspicuous. The Ford's are much thicker and noticeable .

My experience exactly on both accounts. If I were adding bed steps I'd likely go with AMP due to their much lower profile. If the build quality is similar to their power steps, they'll be rock solid. The factory steps are great, but very thick/deep when retracted, and I can't imagine that they're cheap.

That's exactly what I was thinking. The Ford ones are too thick. Think I'm sold on the Amps. Plus they are indeed cheaper. About $260 a piece vs. $325 shipped. I actually found the Ford ones for as low as $235 a piece online but then shipping was $100 lol.....

Do they not just make wheel to wheel running boards for the f150 short box? I tried a search a while back but didnt find anything that wasnt all giant steel boards that would go on a monster truck. :P

I have the AMP bed step. One of the best products I purchased for my truck. Quality product that’s sturdy and easy to use. Good luck.
