With me I really wanted the 302a magnetic xlt sport screw but the one I selected was bought out underneath me. Had everything that I wanted from factory. Ended up really struggling with what I wanted and needed, and found a 301a tuxedo black xlt sport screw with what I needed and a few items that I wanted. For the $$$ I'm spending now to get everything I wanted, I should have ponied up earlier. Love my truck, but kicking myself in the a** everyday for not getting the other.

My dad had some sage advice: "buying a vehicle is like getting a prostitute. You're gonna get screwed, so pay for the one you like."

Everything in my signature was a requirement. The dealership put me in a ruby red with a 5.0 for 5 day extended test drive trying to sell it to me. I told the sales guy in a nice way get me what I want. He found the truck in Dallas. They did a dealer trade and brought it to Austin. I was a gnats ass from pulling the trigger on the ruby red. The ruby red is nice but not my color and the 5.0 used to much gas. My buddy said your going to spend that kind of money get what you want. That advice really helped me out.

Here it's more like you know you will tow something or use it for some off road or work duties so at least go for a 2.7 Ecoboost or the 5.0 if not the premium 3.5 ecoboost. The price difference of the engines is nearly nothing. Like the OP stated he's regretting it. I'm not talking buying a Platinum just for the bells and whistles. But instead take what you think is the bare minimum you need and up the ante a notch or two just so you maximize the utility of the vehicle for what the vehicle was designed for i.e. Towing, hauling, off-roading, carrying a nearly two and a half ton vehicle without cargo or passenger. I guess I'm just barking up the wrong tree. I just learned from my own experience that you don't need to get top of the line but being the bottom of the ladder sometimes leaves too much to be desired (bought an Eclipse GS cuz I didn't think I needed a turbo but within a year I traded for a GST). Since then I've always at least got the motor and setup that gave the vehicle chassis and design the best run for the money I'm spending. If they weren't charging a $8-9000 over MSRP for the Boss 302 and nearly $13-14,000 over MSRP for the GT500 I would have bought one or the other. Instead I got the GT but I knew it was definitely a better platform to drive than the V6 option. From the mustang community i see owners of the V6 Stangs asking about trading in their V6 for the V8 every so often. All for saving maybe a few thousand dollars which is like maybe $50-60 per month more. I know I know to each their own. Lol |
