Buying the lowest class 3 series or c-class or hell even the lowest class 1-series will undoubtedly leave you shortchanged whichever way you look at it unless you really don't give a shiet what you drive. All these guys that say they don't need the extra power of the Ecoboost or the 5.0 and that they will be happy with just the 3.5na is just like the guys that buy the lowest grade Merc or Bimmer and say they don't really need the prestige or luxury of the higher grade models. What I learned is never settle for the lowest model of any class. Always up the ante or else just buy yourself a Ranger or a VW or whatever the higher model of the next lower grade model and really save yourself some money.

Not everyone thinks this way!

I have an STX and love it! I don't want all the bells and whistles. I opted for vinyl floors even! Get a great looking truck and get to add what I want and nothing more. I don't get sucked into the status symbol crap.

That is where the guys buying the 300 series bimmer and C class merc trip up! Balling on a budget!

Agreed, especially when it comes to trucks. Shop for capability first, then luxury items.

I agree... I did opt for the 2.7 ecoboost, but my XL is pretty much has all of the basic functions that I needed. Would I have liked to get a Platinum with all sorts of bells and whistles? Sure, but I like the $20 grand that I saved even more.

Yep that's how it is got the base with the vinyl floors and love the truck more hp would have been great. But I am about to graduate college so really anything dependable would do got plenty of time to get a fancy truck.

So way back in the day, my buddy had a Dodge Colt Turbo, fun little car with a 4 speed manual and shifter for hi/lo, fun little car back in the day. It got stolen and totalled, so he went out and bought another one. Took me for a ride, seemed rather doggy, lifted the hood, "Hey Bud, where's the turbo?". Had a long laugh at that one. So did he. Eventually.

those cars were so much fun! We called them twin sticks, they had a second shift stick for "power" or "economy" they would smoke tires all the way into third gear.

In 2010 my grandad ordered an f150 lariat, the dealer decided to order two truck which ended up with only one digit in the vin different between the two trucks. The dealer sent him home in the wrong truck. It didn't matter to him to go back switch but he liked the way the first one drove better

Kind of dumb to generalize your very subjective viewpoint to the way everyone should think and act.

Ok , maybe I am missing something here or am just slow. But how can you do even basic research and not know which motor you are buying?? :whistling2:
