Default Body Work Question

Anyone have any experience they'd like to share in regards to getting body work done? My '16 SCREW 4x4 with 2k on the ticker was hit from behind today. Passenger rear, got the bumper mostly but went into the body panel below the light. The metal is bent back and there is a 1.5" rip in the metal. With the new aluminum, how should this be approached? I'm going to get an estimate tomorrow, should they be putting an entire new panel on it, or do they do normal body work to it to get it straight? First(and hopefully last) time that I'm dealing with this, kinda want some advice on how to approach it. Thanks in advance.

Sorry to hear about the accident. Hope all goes well with the repair. I'm curios about this as well.

Default Body Work Question

Haven't repaired a box side yet on these. Only front end hits so far. Judging from what I've seen, I wouldn't want them to weld this rip. Hard to see the rip in the pic. Is it just a seam came apart? Or ripped? I would rather it replaced if so.

Damn, sorry to hear about that. I'd be curious how it works out, too. Keep us posted. Check out this somewhat similar thread: https://www.f150forum.com/f118/hit-work-pics-347575/

Maybe you can get in touch with the OP/Johnny Bravo and ask some questions.

It is an actual tear/rip in the bottom. Ive attached a better pic showing the damage. I took it to the body shop the persons insurance company wanted me to take it to and the estimator told me that they would just treat it like a normal vehicle and use filler/whatever else to make it "factory" again. I'm not so sure that's what is supposed to happen. Just got off the phone with their insurance and they have accepted liability and I can now go wherever I want. I'll be going to the one local dealer that is "F-150 Aluminum Certified" in the area and have them eyeball it and then do the work, the insurance will cover it all. I'll keep everyone updated on the process. Thanks for the responses.

Just remember "certified" doesn't always mean quality. Ford has also lifted the certification. So any body shop worth their salt can do it. That's why I've been painting a few of these trucks lately.
