Default Blown trailer module - Problems getting around it

Hi all,

Long time creeper, first time poster, so thank you for all the great info the community has shared!

My problem is as follows and I'm hoping someone can help.

2015 F150 2.7
I recently had my trailer lights stop working. Tested everything and took the truck to the dealer and was told that I need to replace my trailer module in the truck... it's blown. Quote: $500.00!

I figured I would try to do a direct wiring job to the rear lights. After trying direct wiring as well as with a converter box... no luck getting everything to function.

Might anyone have any suggestions? Is it even possible to get it working without getting the new module?

I can get the lights on the trailer to turn on with the running lights, however when I signal, both flash over the running lights in a dim style.

Going a bit nuts trying to get it working, and not looking to speak 5 bills to get it working. Already called Ford corporate to complain, but yet to hear back.

Thanks!

they go for about $100 on eBay. I bought a '16 when a added PTBA. See signature.

Thanks for the quick reply Lucas. If I don't have trailer assist with the **** in the truck, can I circumvent this module somehow? I really don't need any of the "frills", just the lights working.

I will eventually get it fixed by the dealer, but for the time being I can't tow and it's killing me!

Thanks again for the reply!

no my '15 had this module too I just swapped it out for a '16 to get the PTBA to work. This is what controls the lights.
