Default Is BLIS worth it

I will be towing a travel trailer 1-2 times per month mostly through the desert and southwest mountains. I’ve never had a blind spot warning system before. With towing, I’m thinking BLIS would be useful. Unfortunately, majority of XLTs on my dealer’s lot doesn't have it. I do have a few to choose from, but it’s not with all the options I’m looking for or with other options I don’t want.

Do you guys think BLIS is worth it?

My wife's 2017 Ford Edge has it. I would consider it to be a very useful option especially when towing.

I havent towed with my truck yet, but I have the standard mirrors on my Lariat and they have a big blind spot in them up close to the truck. The BLIS is very helpful there. Back by where a trailer would be, I have no problem seeing other cars. I would imagine tow mirrors would be even better.

I prefer spotters over BLIS.

I do plan on adding aftermarket towing mirrors as well. Was thinking that BLIS would be much more useful at night more so than day.

It never crossed my mind to use BLIS for backing up a trailer. I can't imagine how effective it would be. I'm asking more in terms of driving with a 25' travel trailer, especially at night.

Wow... I didn't realize that. Thanks so much! I guess that makes it a little easier for me since I've haven't seen the BLIS with trailer option available. I guess I'll do without unless I find that specific option. Thank you

Some of this safety stuff, like auto braking, will qualify you for insurance discounts so be sure and check with your insurance company!

Nope it is not worth it in my opinion. I have been towing and backing up for well let’s just say a long time. I find using my mirrors and the spots work far better then a little yellow dot in my mirror. If the trailer is wider then the truck tow mirrors are a must. If not then the regular mirrors work pretty good if set correct.

I have a platinum with bliss and don’t pay attention to it, I just watch and see what is going on.

As as for a good add would be the backup camera to help hook up the trailer. After that it is useless to me.
