I installed 5100's on my 2010 4x4 f150 and the ride was worse. It road better with my factory shocks and 1.5in auto spring leveling kit.

Were you on heavy LT tires? Trying to figure out a common element.

Or maybe just some of us like a firm ride and some like soft. I'm more of a car and heavy duty truck person so I like a firm ride. Firmer the better for the most part.

I get what you are saying. On the Ram, it firmed up my ride but made the ride better...if that makes sense? Driving 65-70 down the road and hitting a bump the original Ram suspension youd barely feel it but the rear end would kick out, with the 5100 installed youd feel it more but the rear end wouldnt kick, with the F150 with 5100 i fell it 100 percent...like its doing too good of a job? I guess i can throw the stock ones back on and give it more time, maybe im overthinking it.

Theres a lot of guys running KO2's, terra grapplers, and other 10 ply tires so i cant be the first one, lol.

After doing a search, there are quite a few folks complaining about the ride with the 5100's...I found 2 guys that upgraded from the 5100, waiting on them to reply to me.

Telling a guy that does have LT tires to run the PSI that works in your p metric isn't quite right

38 might be lower than the minimum the manufacturer would recommend if OP were to contact them about it (only one way to find out for sure though I suppose)

Nitto recommends 45 but they also say to do a chalk test and/or to keep an eye on the wear

I noticed we have the same tire size...you have the 6-ply version?

Not sarcasm. I genuinely hope you get it sorted out.

thinking wheels would cause a rougher ride? meaning going from a 20 inch to a different 20 inch?

I was on p-rates Michelin Ltx at2 sized 275/60/20. Not really a smoother all terrain then those. I have a level kit on my 2016 fx4 with ridge grapplers 275/60/20 rides great. I always regretted the 5100s on my 2010. Not sure what I'll put on my current rig when the time comes for new shocks.
