Default Bilstein 5100 Install

Hi Folks, just got the 5100s to help fix the rear end jitter when going over bumps at high speed. Can someone tell me how to adjust for best performance, or to be at the same as stock ride height? I don't necessarily want to lift / drop the rear end, just want the jitters to stop

Thanks

There is no adjustment on 5100 rear shocks. You just bolt them on.

Pro Tip:
Install them, tighten the bolts but do not fully tighten.
Lower vehicle so it is under its own weight THEN torque the bolts.

Or just leave the truck on the ground? I did mine laying under the truck.

Yes. Definitely do this job while the truck in on the ground. Also, leave the band on the shock until you have the bolts in.

Did they cure your jitter? My 5100s took care of the rear end hop right quick!

The real pro tip is removing the strap and placing a ratchet strap around it so you can adjust to the proper length instead of trying to hit that bolt in while the unit stretches it's legs.

The gas pressure isn't high, you can compress them by hand while under the truck, but the dampening is pretty firm, which means you have to push very firm, for a fair bit of time, to compress it into position.

I installed some 5100's on the back mine a few months ago. I think it took me all of 35 minutes, and that included putting the tools away. Really changed the behavior of the back of the truck (so much better). I would say the ride is much more civil now. This is a great upgrade for these trucks. My OEM stocks were terrible. The left side, you could compress it and count to 20 and it still wouldn't completely stretch all the way out.
