No you didn't and I was NOT saying you did. However it would surprise you (or at least I am stupid enough it surprised me) how many others say they need to clean their engine so it will run better or longer.

Actually, I was posting more of a question. Has the technology changed or is that (moisture in the coil pack) still an issue? Do you know?

From my 2017 Owners Manual Page 342-343:

CLEANING THE ENGINE
Engines are more efficient when they are
clean because grease and dirt buildup keep
the engine warmer than normal.

When washing:
• Take care when using a power washer
to clean the engine. The high-pressure
fluid could penetrate the sealed parts
and cause damage.
• Do not spray a hot engine with cold
water to avoid cracking the engine
block or other engine components.
• Spray Motorcraft Engine Shampoo and
Degreaser on all parts that require
cleaning and pressure rinse clean. In
Canada, use Motorcraft Engine
Shampoo.
• Never wash or rinse the engine while it
is hot or running; water in the running
engine may cause internal damage.
• Never wash or rinse any ignition coil,
spark plug wire or spark plug well, or
the area in and around these locations.
• Cover the battery, power distribution
box, and air filter assembly to prevent
water damage when cleaning the
engine.

You beat me to it! LOL

I have always know a clean engine will last longer and run better as stated above.

I also cover the brake reservoir, due to brake fluid being hydroscopic.

That is way too funny!

It clearly implies that the thermostat does not work properly since it controls engine temperature. Unless it was written by an English major who did not understand engine operation.

The second paragraph says that the coil pack moisture issue is still with us.

I still have not waded all the way through my manual.

I found a neat wireless charger on Amazon which is meant for bar tops but I feel that it's the perfect fit to mod into our trucks where the plastic tray is for the centre channel speaker. Not to mention that it's a cheap piece of trim that can be replaced if anything goes terribly wrong. I'm going to try an install. Should I bother posting a writeup here? and what are your thoughts on placement? do you feel there is there a better place to install a wireless charger? Yes, I am already aware that 2018 Explorers have a wireless charger we all should be able to someday buy and retrofit into our centre consoles with a touch of ForScan, but that requires a lot more work, the part numbers are not available yet, and will likely be too expensive for this thread.

This seems cheap clean and easy. $30 CAD on Amazon .ca plus a bit of glue and hole saw.

Canada link is Here
