Best all terain tire for winter, ice snow?

I always preach that anyone with serious winters should get dedicated winter tires. People who say their ATs are awesome don't know what actual good performance is or what harsh winter conditions are. You can blaze through snow at 50mph with any tire as long as you don't stop. It's starting, stopping and turning confidently and safely where winter tires make a difference.
Hankook iPikes. Affordable and perform really well for me.
Real cons are they top out in stock size and you pay for swaps twice a year/buy extra wheels.

I picked up a set of take off OEM rims with like new Michelin defender LTX M/S. I am going to give them a try if I don't like them I can use the rims for dedicated winter tires.

Goodyear Wrangler AT Adventure. I have run these for years from my Expedition (1999) through 3 4x4 F150's. Great in the snow. Quiet in the summer. Good tread life. I live in Buffalo and in case you haven't heard it snows here early and often. These tires are the best for me.
- How many miles do you normally get on a set of these?
- How are they in heavy rain? Any hydroplaning problems?
Is there anything you don't like about them?

All terrain tires as a whole aren’t great in snow or ice... the tread blocking packs full of snow. Sipes are what you need for ice (and rain)... not large, chunky treads.
id argue highway style tires can be better in snow/ice for that reason.
on another note, the KO2s have this cult following. Sure they look cool, and are a good all terrain... however, they are terrible on ice, and almost as bad in snow. Everyone’s “snow” comparison for ko2s are different, but from what I’ve seen, they suck. Great off road tire for trails/gravel/etc, and decent in-road in DRY conditions.
wildpeaks are much better in snow/ice IMO.
Another really good tire are the Coopers.
however, a true winter tire will run circles around ANY AT tire. Unless you have driven with dedicated winter tires, you just don’t understand.
my RWD BMW with blizzak (one of, if not the best winter tire IMO) will run circles around awd or even 4x4 vehicles in the winter. I’ve done it. I’ve passed the big boy lifted 250s with monster AT tires with my little RWD bmw! Grant it, it sits lows so there isn’t much ground clearance, but I drive on plowed roads, so it’s perfect for my use. I drive my car with blizzak over my truck in bad conditions for that reason. Obviously if plowing through 6”+ snow, I’m taking the f150 with 4x4 all day, but like I said they do a good job plowing the roads where I’m at.
... search my thread from last year of “when is a rwd sports can better in snow than 4x4 truck”... read all the butthurt comments haha. Once again, plowed roads with slight covering of snow/ice, I’m taking my RWD car with blizzak 20/10 over my truck. If I Need 4x4, that is a different situation and taking my truck.
i want blizzaks for my truck, which I’d be convinced that it would go anywhere!
... dedicated winter tires are 1000x better than any AT tire, and that is the facts!

I ran a set of Firestone Winterforce UV2 last winter - first time trying Winterforce tires on my pickup. I was very pleased.

Does anybody have any experience/opinions on the Michelin Primacy XC tire that is OEM on some of the 2018 models? I have done extensive google searching and information on the tire is pretty sparse (only a few mentions of them here on the forums and a hit or two on Tundras and Expedtions). The few reviews I have found mention they seem better in snow than the OEM GoodYear Fortitudes that I have on my 2016 XLT. I am curious because TireRack has a killer deal on these right now (275/65R18 on sale for $144 each with $70 Michelin rebate on a set of 4).

+1 Nokian Rotiiva. Good in Summer, ok off-road, perfect on ice and snow (developed in Finnland, what else could you expect?)
And they do last forever, on my old truck 50% thread was left after 50k miles. Running 315/70/17 on Raptor rims.

This is awesome to hear. My wife wanted Blizzaks for her Rogue, I didn't want to spend the money on those and rims and went with the Winterforce based off of a guy at Discount Tire, everything I've read is theyr'e very good winter tires.

I keep my tires aired up to the correct pressure and rotate them every year at my NYS inspection. They go 65K miles for me. I'm a 12K plus miles per year driver. In the summer I run from Buffalo to the 1,000 Islands every weekend on the NYS Thruway often times in heavy rain or wet roads. No hydroplaning. They do fine off road during hunting season as well. I can't find a thing I don't like about them.

this looks like it may be a contender for my search for one tire that will do it all for me. Now just to find a dealer that isn’t 100 miles away....

YMMV, but I had a local shop install tires I bought online. They were happy to do so given that they didn't sell Nokian; not all shops will feel the same way.
