Default Bed winch Idea

2018 F150 Screw 5.5 I am looking for a bed winch idea using the stake pockets or a better way. Can anyone give me some advice, I will be using it to pull game into the bed of the truck, and occasionally my ATV.

I think you're going to have a real challenge with this one, due to the aluminum bed. It's designed to be strong in a specific direction, not to have the load of a winch thrown into the stake bed pockets. If you're really intent on doing this, you'll want to devise a way that transfers the force to the frame.

Maybe one of those hitch mounted cranes for the game instead of a winch and just drive the quad up into the bed?

See if you can get a headache rack and mount the winch on that. The rack mounts go down the sides of the bed, I think this would have enough leverage to handle a small winch.

What you can do

I say unless you get it attached to the frame you're going to bend the bed sides/front.
Keep us posted once it's done, I want to see how it is setup and works.

This is easy. You've got four box links in the bed, and can use two of them to provide a 2:1 advantage. Mount the winch to one of the forward cleats, and a connection point on the one opposite it. Use a ****** block at the ATV to get it into the bed. For the deer, you can skip the ****** block.

Box links are rated 275lb. x2=550lb. 45º ramps = 730lb ATV. 30º ramps = 1100lb ATV.

To ensure you can't damage the bedsides, you can put a bar or piece of wood between the cleats so there is only a sheer force on them. The sheer strength is a lot higher than the work rating.

However, you've added zero safety factor into any of this (besides whatever Ford built into the BoxLink rating). Have a little oops... let a tire slip off the edge of a ramp, etc., anything that provides any shock load and bang - you pull the bed side in. And, once the aluminum starts distorting, it's going to lose strength and thus keep distorting or tear.

It's a dangerous game, that's for sure.

Default Winch ball/ hitch plate

Just use a winch reciver hookup or they make a plate that slips over your ball so it's not permanent.
