Default Bed side retractable steps

Anyone ever have issues with these retractable steps? I just scored a set of these used for 91% off from regular sale price and wondering if there might be an issue with them. Had a friend pick them up for me as it was too far and one of the steps is deployed. Hoping the seller just accidentally deployed it while off the truck, but thinking it might be stuck or won't latch in the retracted position. Either that or the seller had no clue what they were worth. Paid $75 Canadian, Eastgate Ford Parts (online seller like Tasca) has them listed for $412 Canadian per side.

I like those and want to get some, but there is negative zero point zero chance in hell I'd ever pay 400 per side. unbelievable. Sounds like you got a great deal though.

Hope you have a 6.5 foot bed since that is what those fit.

I had these on my 2011, worked great for the first year after that they seized up with our Canadian winters, luckily I put a topper on and didn’t actually need them anymore, just became decoration lol

So I've installed these and it seems the latch on the driver side step (right side in picture) doesn't fully take. It does latch, but pulling on the ends of the step or hitting the mechanism from under the truck causes the step to unlatch and deploy. I have yet to see if road vibration will do the same thing. The passenger side step latches perfectly and only deploys when the center button is pushed.

Anyone else have this kind of issue?

Going into my 3rd summer with mine and they still work great. Paid full price unfortunately, but I needed them too much to let that stop me.

I haven’t looked at the latching mechanism, but a little file work might solve the issue.
