I did the same thing, took to my body shop, they had a solution that took it right off, and did a little polishing. Charged me a whole $5.00. Mine scraped the whole side from riders door to the tail light, I was sick. I got out of it lucky. There is a slight dent in the plastic trim over the rear wheel well. You can't see it unless the light is just right. Not happy it happened, but happy could be fixed so easily. Looked like several thousand dollars of repair to me.

You can try mineral spirits or lighter fluid.

Use a heat gun or hair dryer on low to soften it up. Don't get too close; take your time. Then use a nylon razor blade with very gentle pressure. Make sure to finish with alcohol and a good quality spray cleaner or touch-up or spot polish product.

Photos of the damage would be beneficial, usually a compound and towel will take it off, then polish it out.

If you have a can of WD40, I'd try that.
