Default Battery Management System Issue

About a year ago, I noticed that my auto start/stop wasn't working anymore. I didn't really miss it, and I knew there were a whack of things that can cause that so didn't worry about it. About 6 months ago, I noticed that sometimes the easy access unlock feature would sometimes not work, my warning chimes started sounding "tinny", and that the truck would enter "Deep Sleep" mode not long after turning it off. Went to the dealer. They did a battery test (the long one that takes a few hours), and it tested fine. They rest the BMS, and everything worked fine for about a week. Then the same symptoms started gradually appearing. Went back to the dealer, and they did the same thing. All was good for a few days, and then the same thing again. I'm going back again on Monday. The truck gets driven for long enough distances that the battery gets a full charge. Anyone else have this happen and get a permanent fix?

Just to help in troubleshooting, put on a battery charger for a few hours.

Curious if you checked your display when the auto/start doesn’t function. If you didn’t know...when the grey symbol shows in the display you can scroll through and see why the auto/stop disabled itself. If it continues to have the message the battery is charging then you may have a bad battery.

Yup, did that. Put it on a C-Tek charger for a full 24 hours until it was full charged. No difference.

My truck would go into deep sleep mode during the summer. I had the battery checked, and it
came back fine. battery was only three years old. installed a new battery and no issues.
The auto start function on my truck does not work. had it checked, ford said it showed many codes.
ford reset the codes but to no avail. still not working.

I love my truck, but I do worry about all the electronic gizmos and what happens as the truck gets older. We have 5 vehicles in the family. 3 fairly modern ones, and then I have a 91 Cherokee and my son has an 89 Comanche. Guess which two have the fewest issues......

OK, just did that and I get a "Vehicle Charging" message.

I would bet that 91 Cherokee will outlast all of them. I had a 94 with almost 400k miles on it before I sold it...had the 4.0 in it that you can’t kill.

Yup, the 4.0L is a beast! Love that motor.
