Appears that bulletin is applicable to all Bakflip covers for the F150. Mine will be here in a few days, hope it installs nicely. As far as the guys video, the lines in the top will probably come out, its brand new and been folded up for who knows how long. Im sure once it warms up and cools down those will disappear. The rubber on the sides I have no clue how they are supposed to be.

I think the G4 Elite's quality beats even the Bakflip F1's. I don't know, but I am not impressed with the Bakflip's over all quality. After all, when buying a $50k truck, I think the VP falls short in quality. Not impressed with those overlapped rubber seals. The Elite's G4 edges look so much nicer.

Now I am strongly leaning towards the Elite G4. Thanks for the post.

In full disclosure, I haven't been able to install yet as my truck isn't here, but I did take it out of the package and inspect it. As far as construction, it's way beefier than my buddy's Bakflip. The striker bolt attachment and lack of cables to open it was a big plus for me too.

I can easily see that it is not a tight seal all the way around the bed. Now contrast that with the Elite G4. Just saying.

While I do like the Elite G4, you don't get the low profile look and you lose your stake pockets. To me they are kinda two different types of tonneau and hard to compare to one another.

I understand where you coming from as far as personal preferences are concerned. The only appearance difference for me I saw was quality. And the G4 definitely flourishes in comparison with the Bakflip VP. The actual proof is the capacity. While the Bakflip max load is 250lbs evenly distributed, the G4 is at 400lbs. I still haven't decided yet. But I think I have eliminated the Bakflip VP. However, I still have the Bakflip F1 on my list along with the G4.

I never knew it would be so hard to decide which tonneau cover to buy.

Guys. I have been lurking around on this forum for a few months now and decided to jump in on this one. smerritt88's experience is exactly like mine. I had a VP installed on a '13 and i thought it was excellent. I also didn't install the tubes and only experienced a couple of drips at the tailgate. Fast forward to today. I upgraded to a '15 and went to install a new VP this weekend (actually a FX5 from gatorcovers...exact same thing just name branded differently). Called to verify that shims were or were not necessary and was told not necessary, so installed everything. After installing rails and "trying" to install the cover, I ran into the same issue. The cover is entirely too narrow and won't even lock down as the latches won't reach the rails on both sides when centered up. Now have to wait until Monday to get an answer. This was not my experience the last time.

I have my VP sitting waiting for my truck to arrive, but checked the instructions upon arrival. It states shims are needed for the 2015 and may or may not be factory installed. Luckily mine were, but also tells you to measure the tonneau width before install just in case you received a incorrect cover. The shims def push the rails in another 1/4-1/3" I hope that doesn't affect the water resistance, but I fear it very much will.
