I recently dented my tailgate and was lucky and found a used one that is the correct color and even had the factory bedliner like mine does. Everything works except mine had a little LED courtesy light, which I don’t think I’ll miss. The backup camera could be zoomed in with a little plus symbol on the touchscreen on my old tailgate. This one doesn’t zoom in but the plus symbol is still there. My truck is an XLT.

.Is this tailgate off an older truck that didn’t have that option or maybe off an XL instead of an XLT? I could swap the backup camera from my old tailgate but it had been malfunctioning off and on but was working fine over the last few months. A picture of the old one which I had the tailgate down when backing up and it hit the trailer jack. Thanks for the answers in advance.

 

Have you taken the tailgate apart to see the camera? Could be an aftermarket one, they are known to not zoom and several other issues when compared to the expensive Ford OEM cameras.

 

I did open the panel and look in there but without looking in the old tailgate I’m not sure if it’s an OEM camera or not.

 

Can you put your old one in ?

 

I could put the old one in but since it was malfunctioning this last year I hate to put it back in.

 

When I bought my 2017 1 year ago the zoom feature and the lines on the reverse camera did not work. The plus symbol was present and did beep when I pressed it but it would not zoom. I ended up reconfiguring the camera using Forescan and that fixed the problem.
