Default Backup Camera Wiring

Can anyone tell me exactly what each pin requires on the factory backup camera? I am looking to add it to my truck and want to use the factory plug to the camera but I am unsure what each pin does. I have attached the factory diagram that I was able to find online but I dont totally understand each pin. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

I'm not quite sure what you're asking for, but if you really just want a description of each wire that goes to that plug, here's a basic rundown:
1 - Fuse = Power
2 - LIN Bus = Communication/Control (from BCM with just a standard rear view camera)
3 - Video signal "-" - (think speaker or subwoofer +/-, same principal)
4 - Video signal "+" - (think speaker or subwoofer +/-, same principal)
5 - Video signal shield - helps reduce interference for wires 3 and 4
6 - Unused/unpopulated

I've also attached the overview/operation for the camera from the Factory Service Manual. Should tell you everything you want to know about the camera and how it interfaces with the truck.

Thank you So Much for your post. Hopefully, I'm on the path to figuring this strange situation out. (2018 King Ranch, 3.5 EcoBoost, 4x4 w Tow Pkg). Camera started giving me strange zig-zag lines and a distorted picture last week. I disconnected, cleaned and re-connected the harness by the spare tire. It didn't want to latch, so I sprayed electronic cleaner on both parts & zip tied it (x2) to keep it connected. Well, that made it worse. Now I have No Camera; Plus, my tailgate won't open. Clearly an electrical problem, but I did't know which pins to check. Your post, barrytone, along with N.Lambert's at least give me a direction to check. Including the service manual info is top-shelf... Now, all I need to do is decipher the acronyms and test the pins...
I promise I'll follow this up with the outcome.
Thanks, guys, You Rock! Al

Did you figure out the issue? I am having the same problem on my 2017 F150 Lariat. I have tried two different cameras. Mostly get the blue screen and randomly it will show black lines jumping around on the screen.

This was a tremendous help in adding a backup camera to a 2017 F-150 STX. Thank you *SO* much!

You have to use the correct camera part number. 360 compatible calibration vs non-360 compatible calibration. There is an embedded firmware in the camera module and the Image Processing Module and APIM are fussy if you connect the wrong camera type. They are only plug and play about 30% of the time.

If the part number is correct for your trim package, you need to perform a LIN bus calibration in the BCM with ForScan or FRDS after it's connected then reboot the BCM, APIM and IPMA. If you are adding one, do not expect them to be plug and play. I've been down this road and encountered your exact problem on a 2017 XLT 300a, ForScan BCM LIN calibration was the solution.
