Default Back window slider blew in.

The top trip piece inside the rear window of my 2017 F-150 Lariat fell off leaving the top of the slider unsecured and leaning in to the cabin. It looks like it's just stuck on with some double sided tape and that's what I'm going do to attempt to repair it myself.

Is this a common thing? Is there anything else I should be thinking about to make this a more permanent repair? I talked to the Ford dealer body shop and they can't just order the trim piece or the tape to stick it back up - the part number includes the rear window as well as the rail trim. This should be really simple to fix, right?

Pretty Common. Put a ball behind the headrest to hold it up until you can fix it. Lots of varieties of the DIY repairs on youtube.

Pretty common. Many use 3m, 2 sided auto tape to repair.

This is exactly what I did. I long strip of it on the header and another on the back of the trim strip. It felt like it needed the extra width of a double row of tape to fill in the contours.

I've taken my truck through that car wash about 100 times over years of being a member. Maybe those blowers on the rear window over time finally made it give way. Now I have to decide if I'm going to keep getting the truck washed there.

Yes, it's a common issue. I used some RTV window sealant instead of the double sided tape and no more issues.
