Default Back Window Shattered :(

Just needed to vent. My power sliding back window is completely shattered after being sprayed by rocks over the holiday weekend by drunks showing off on UTV's.

Anybody know what kind of dollars I'm looking at? Can't decide if I should involve insurance company or not.

That wrecked your weekend no doubt. I have no idea on cost, but it's probably several hundred dollars. I would not hesitate to at least let your insurance company know "for information purposes", but would also not hesitate to let them handle the repair. That's why you pay premiums.

I don't know exactly how much, but I've been told they are pretty pricey, compared to most other trucks.

No other damage? Rocks kicked up like that wouldn't create dings/dents?

I thought the rear window was a one piece replacement, I do not believe you can just get the sliding window part. That does suck if this is correct.

Do you have the rear window defroster? I'd say a comprehensive claim would save you a lot of money.

I could be wrong but it does look like you can purchase just that sliding window... its not cheap. your looking at $443 for just the window.

defrost is not part of the rear sliding window... just the stationary parts.

It's not just the sliding glass that broke. It's the whole assembly. Anyway, for future reference: Ford dealer wants $750. Safelite wants $608. My insurance would cover it under comprehensive, but I have a $500 deductible so I'm not going to bother. Safelite wins - they'll come to me and they're using OEM assembly. Thanks for all the input.
