Back Up Camera Option as Front Camera?
Saw this ad for a back up camera on Yahoo. https://pearlauto.com/?cvosrc=ppc%20...ntsnativevideo
I am more interested in it for a potential front view camera. It might work if you don't have to be in reverse to see an image. EDIT It won't work above 10 mph based on a question that was asked on Amazon. This has potential.
It is solar powered so no need for wiring.
Requires blue tooth and wifi to connect. And also requires use of the obd port which means I would have to remove my ultragauge blue adapter.
$500 USD

, I would also like to see someone do a dash cam with something like this on the front and incorporate it into the factory front and rear cams.
I guess it really depends on your needs and what you can afford.
Check out the front camera here that can be integrated into your 8" OEM screen and work with the OEM rear. The front camera can be manually activated at any speed. I have installed it along with the side camera kit. I am pleased with the system.

They have a kit for the 4" screen as well.
Edit:If you don't want to replace your grill with a OEM camera hole grill, or cut it out. They make a surface mounted front camera, and I believe it has the parking guidelines.

I went and grabbed one from a store in Seattle called b8ta (Beta).
Install was simple, though I thought I might need to do some modification to the front license plate holder to get it to fit. In the end I did not need to do that. The top two screws hold it firmly enough even though the bottom is pushed out about a 1/2 inch because of the clips on the bottom of the license holder.
The first picture shows pulled up to the sign post as close as I felt comfortable doing and I was still about 18 inches away.
The next one shows that the image is actually reversed, not sure why that is. I will need to back up my truck to something readable and see if the back up camera on the truck reverses images as well. It is an orientation thing at any rate. So what you see in the image on the left is in reality on the right.
The next image is my garage door with normal view and the next image is the wide view. The wide view image shows the screen controls. You can scan left and right as well as up and down to reduce distortion. You can turn off the warnings so it doesn't audibly warn you that you are approaching something.
I first connected with an ipad, but the app is geared towards the iphone (does android as well). With the ipad the image runs off the edge of the screen. So I reset it up with my iphone 7.
I contacted Pearl (the manufacturer) and asked them to add the ability to flip the image horizontal so that image orientation would be correct, albeit for a product that is not designed to be used as a front camera. And also asked for some distance info to be displayed. I am sure they will get right on it.
Not a perfect solution but much better than without a camera at all and avoids the installation hassle for the wired after market cameras. The one drawback of course is the need for another device to view the image.
Still have to test the night vision and see how it operates in the rain.

I confirmed that the F150 back up camera image is reversed as well.
The two additional pictures are showing the after dark image processing. One with the headlights on, the other with them off. Just like the sun was out. Wish the F150 back up camera was this good.
