Default Back door lock position

2015 ford platinum. What position should the child lock switches be in to unlock when I park my truck and turn the key off? Granddaughters say they are locked in still after stopping and turning the truck off.

On my 2019 back doors remain locked until drivers door is opened.

Same, as was my 2011, both with the child locks disengaged. Just the way they work.

I try and remember to unlock door with button when guests are in back, but also remind them to simply pull up on ****. Stupid design imo, why not unlock when in park? Or at least have that option to set.

Phil rod that explains it then, when I pull up somewhere the kids must be trying to get out before I’m reaching for my door handle. To remedy I should be the first to open the door? Just being aware the kids are ready to bail out usually. Still, please, tell me what position your rear safety child latches are in. Are yours turned up and down or pointed left and right on the rear doors? Thankyou

Child locks are not engaged. Never looked to see what position that is.

It's counterclockwise on the driver side and clockwise on the passenger. If you look close there is a symbol showing the lock position
