Default Aux transmission cooler?

I just bought a 2016 Ford F150 XLT w/5.0L v8 Coyote 302 and 157" bed. Truck came with a tow package of some sort. It has electronic brake controller built into dash, class IV hitch, 4 and 7 point harness, and the 3.73 axle as well I confirmed. But strangely I didn't see aux transmission oil cooler in front of the radiator. Shouldn't this have come with it? Would it be located elsewhere? Apologies ahead of time, this is my first Ford truck.

Your truck most likely came with the 53B tow package and had the brake controller added. That does not come with a transmission cooler.

The 53B came with: Class IV Trailer Hitch (incl. Smart Trailer Tow Connector, 4-pin/7-pin wiring, Class IV trailer hitch receiver)

The screenshot below is from the 2016 F150 order guide.

Bubbaken is right. Bet it’s the 53b another way to tell is if it has the auxiliary led projector next to the tailgate handle it’s the tow package.

Thanks guys. I believe I read that the truck may have an in-tank radiator based transmission cooler, but apparently not the external auxiliary one. I tow 6500 lb travel trailer around only about 4000 miles a year during Summer months. Do I even need the external cooler? Do I risk damaging the transmission without it?

Depends on the ambient temperature. You might be able to keep the transmission temperature in the normal range in a cooler environment, but not on Interstate 10 during the summer. You would have to adjust your speed according to the transmission temperature. Remember your towing a huge sail, the faster you go, the more drag and higher temperatures.

The truck won't be rated to tow that much, so there's that.
If I were you I'd add the OEM cooler, that brings it up to spec on that, the cooling system is still not the same, (unless they now use the same rads, but pre 15's had bigger cooling systems with the trailer tow packages)but should be adequate.

Splitting hairs here, but the 53B isn't a "tow package" according to Ford, it's a hitch option last time I checked.

ETIS calls it the "medium duty towing "

It doesn't rate as a tow package, and therefor the truck is restricted to 5000# and a frontal area of....... oh look it up.

There's nothing that restricts it to 5000 lbs. I have the 5.0L v8 SuperCrew 4x4 with 157" wheelbase, tow capacity listed in the 2016 tow guide is 10500 lbs. Has Class IV hitch rated to 11,100 lbs with WD.
