Default Aux Backup Lights

Can aux backup lights be added without wreaking havoc on the trucks sensitive electronics?

I have always put LED bulbs in place of the factory incandescent bulbs and added "ATV" LEDs to assist on all my trucks, but these trucks are so sensitive, I was wondering it it is possible

Simple answer is YES, or course!

Now, how do you want them controlled? Do you want manual operation through a switch you will add? That's easy, just wire it like any other add-on electrical item...... Switch, relay, fuse, etc.

Do you want them automatically controlled when you go into reverse? If so, just make sure you use a relay that is triggered by the trucks backup lights. That way there is really no additional load put on the factory wiring (the relay coil will be negligible) and all draw will come from the battery through the relay. This is the best method.

Now, you can go one step further if you want and have them automatically controlled as i just mentioned, AND put on a manual switch if you feel that you will need it.

Just FYI, if you have the OEM mirror spot lights, fold your mirrors in & turn them on. They make great additional light behind/beside the truck.

This is what I have along with the plate frame. It looks clean and is VERY bright. It doesn't look ugly like the pods that hang down below the bumper. https://www.vleds.com/shop-products/...2-w-5500k.html

I wired my auxiliary backup lights to the 7 pin trailer plug. Simple and works great.

I did the same thing. Automatic on/off when reversing, no relay or dedicated line from the battery required.

I use Headlight Revolution license plate led backup light. Plenty bright and easy hookup. Comes on when you put truck in reverse.
