Default Auto wipers too aggressive

Used my auto wipers today for the first time and they seem way too aggressive. It was just lightly sprinkling and my wipers would only pause for a split second on the lowest setting while on the highway. They did pause for about a second when I was stopped. Anyone else notice the same thing or is there anyway to adjust other than the dial?

I’ve noticed the same thing. I constantly have to babysit the wiper stock dial when the wetness is inconsistent. Not sure if there’s an adjustment in ForScan but if there is that would be nice.

I rarely touch my wiper controls. Often I forget to turn them off after it stops raining. Then the next day, I'll be driving down the road and the wiper will cycle once reminding me to turn them off. I think the sensitivity of the auto-wipe is perfect on my truck.

One of the things the pinpoint tests say is to check your wiper blades. Wiper streaking can effect the rain sensor sensitivity. They suggest cleaning the blade with an isopropyl alcohol swab or changing the blade if needed. The rain sensor has what they can a gel-type lens. If the lens is damaged or not attached properly to the windshield it could effect the auto-wipe operation.

From the WSM:

NOTE: The rain sensor gel-type lens can be damaged or contaminated during rain sensor removal, rain sensor bracket separation or incorrect installation.
  • From the outside of the vehicle, inspect the area of the windshield glass where the rain sensor is mounted. The rain sensor contact area should appear black, with no bubbles, air pockets or contaminants between the windshield glass and the rain sensor.

I turned both the auto wipers and high beams off. They definitely need more refinement.

My auto-high beams have been on since just after I got the truck in 2016. For me they are just perfect. Its odd that some systems are bad and some are good.

agree. I wasn’t crazy about the high beams either. I turned them off too.

i think I’ll ask the dealer to look at my wiper issue. The truck is brand new and it just doesn’t seem right.

I've asked about this on here as well. My trucks its outside and on days where there is condensation on the windshield, the wipers just go nuts. Even after the truck has wiped away all hints of moisture and the parts where the wipers can hit are dryer than the Sahara, it just keeps going, I guess because of the condensation outside of the wiper line. Our 2014 Flex had auto wipers, and they were nearly flawless. Something is off on the truck.

The system is even worse on my wife's Escape. I gave up and shut mine off. She constantly has to turn them off manually because they don't do it automatically and people flash their lights at her. But then she turns them right back on.

I turned the auto wipers off just two weeks after getting my '19 Platinum.
